Entering Continental Europe

We set off from Herentals, Belgium after being hosted by Gerdje, Pol and Toon. They were really welcoming and made our first couchsurfing experience unforgettable. Pol and Gerdje had driven across Europe before and their tips and advice from their own experiences were really helpful. Gerdje prepared us a fantastic meal with a few surprises involving mustard! After staying with them, we had a full days driving ahead of us, to get across Germany and into Austria. Thanks to Jack we added another country to our trip, one wrong turn and we went through another country: the Netherlands. It was a great sunny day on the Autobahn’s of Germany and across the rolling hills of Bavaria. Once we arrived in Austria the hunt for cheap camping gas began. We arrived in Linz in an attempt to find an outdoor store but everywhere was closed for Pentecost. We camped up by the banks of the Donau in Wilhering.

  1. Hi globetrotters πŸ™‚

    Two wonderful surprises today :

    1) Your blog being updated finally πŸ™‚

Thank you for the compliments, but to be honest : I was not the one who fooled you with the mustard! Blame Toon :p
But it’s nice to read that your staying with us (as your first CS hosts ever) was helpful, and left good memories with you πŸ™‚ We are left with nothing but good memories as well and dozens of photos…
Nice to see that you visited Veliko Tarnovo which we recommended, and avoided the *** cops in Bulgaria πŸ˜‰

    2) Free publicity πŸ™‚

The reporter we arranged and who interviewed you while staying here published the article together with the photo in 2 newspapers today πŸ™‚ Really nice!! I bought a newspaper for each one of you, and also one for Camara, as you are all worldfamous in Belgium now πŸ™‚ I’ll send them to you by post…

OK guys, it’s clear you don’t need us anymore πŸ™‚ You are all doing just fine, and enjoying the many continental kilometers, even on tough roads in Eastern Europe.
Keep up the good spirit and keep us posted! We will follow your route and your adventures via this blog constantly!
Only one more thing : We miss you guys, and want to let you know that our door will always be open for you, whenever… (as we left it as a (payed) message on Doris).

    Keep up the good spirit!
